When tragedy strikes a long-term couple, James and Vera, day-to-day life becomes seemingly impossible to manage together in a house with so many reminders of what could’ve been. Vera, a waitress, and James, a warehouse worker struggle to make ends meet and struggle to mourn the loss of the family they almost had, and Vera’s father. This insurmountable stress, financial loss, and grief all drive both James and Vera to turn to other lovers and vices and fight with each other rather than work together to figure out how to move on from their hardships. Based on the song Misery by Medium Build, this play takes place in James and Vera’s apartment, with an open view of every room in the apartment.

A multi-media combination of spoken word, film, comedy, and music, TEENAGERS: Nothing Important is an insight into the world of young girls and how pivotal moments in life can truly affect oneself. A mostly one woman show follows the main character, who is nameless except for “Teenager,” as she grapples with the difficulties of growing up and having to find exactly who she is when she can’t even begin to figure out how to live properly. Over the course of streams of consciousness and music video style ideas, Teenager discovers what good elements in her life allow her to grow and change as a person, even through her unwillingness to leave her younger years behind. A play that has never been so true to the playwright.
